Spotify Redesign

The first thing users see when they open up the song is the cover art which means that it must be big enough to see.

I redesigned the cover art to pop out from the faded background allowing users to recognize the cover art quickly and evoke visual interest before the song begins

One of my favorite things to do on Spotify is to browse new artists and find new songs to put on repeat. The visual hierarchy for many music players is to have a larger song tile followed by a smaller artist name below. 

I chose to add a bit more clarification between artist name and song name by adding the word," by" before the artist- similar to book titles and authors

Instead of having like, shuffle and repeat to the pause button, I redesigned these sub buttons to sit nicely on the center-right side of the screen- like filters on Snapchat!

Stacking like, shuffle and repeat vertically helps draw user's attention to the features without getting in the way of their primary actions of playing or pausing the music, skipping, or going back in the playlist. 

I redesigned the screen to include a live list of friends who are currently listening to the same song.

Especially now that we are remotely connecting with friends, it is important to provide users a way to know how their loved ones are doing. There is comfort in knowing that others are feeling and listening to the same songs as you.
